About Me
Naomi Bates was born in North-west Arkansas, but grew up in a small town in Western PA. She was always active in after-school activities and occasionally took dance, theatre, piano, voice, or art classes, but did not fall in love with the arts until she was 12 years old. After high school she began pursuing a BA in dance as well as a BA in Theatre Arts Management.
Naomi is passionate about performance and choreography in addition to audience engagement and arts management. During her time at Slippery Rock University she has completed an independent study in Stage Management as well as received a student research grant to work with Professor Deanna Brookens on researching and creating a summer program for SRU Theatre Department. In her class work and involvement within both the Theatre and Dance departments she has focused on both technical and administrative work within the arts as a Stage Manager, Lighting Designer, PR head, Producer, and Director.
In the future Naomi would love to explore these areas of artistry and management through multidisciplinary work and community engagement. She hopes all of her work will be shaped by empathy, listening, and resilience, as these are the most vibrant human qualities that art can and should reflect.
